Best Jobs in Armenia for Foreigners

A lot of foreigners are looking for jobs in Armenia. But, there is a common misconception that there are no good jobs available for them. The truth is that there are many great jobs available for foreigners in Armenia, and if you know where to look, it's not hard to find one. This blog post will give you some ideas on where to search.
1. IT Jobs
This is probably the best industry for foreigners to look for jobs in. Armenia has many great technology companies such as PicsArt, Teamable and others that need talented employees from around the world with computer science backgrounds and engineering experience. There is a large demand for foreign workers in this field, and these companies often go out of their way to make sure they hire the ones they want (usually those who speak Armenian). Remember that you will (most likely) need an Armenian work permit to get one of these jobs.

2. Tourism Related Jobs
Armenia is a growing tourist destination. There are now more and more places to go, things to do and people from across the world who want to visit Armenia every year. Many of those exploring our country as tourists need hotel rooms, taxis, restaurants to dine in/take away from etc... These service jobs don't require plenty of language skills since most customers prefer English rather than Armenian.
3. Direct Sales
Direct sales jobs involve working for an established company that manufactures or sells a product or service directly to end-users through face-to-face transactions, via mail order, or online (such as Avon ). The products/services can be anything from health care products, makeup, jewellery, and fashion. Direct sales jobs are only available to people with Armenian citizenship or work permits. You can find direct sales job opportunities at places like Craigslist, TheLadders.com, and other similar websites.
4. Tutoring Jobs
This one is very common for college students who want an additional source of income while studying outside Armenia for various reasons (study abroad programs, military service etc.) There is currently a very high demand for foreign language tutors in Armenia since the current market supply of qualified teachers is quite low due to the lack of government support toward creating more opportunities for foreign language teaching careers in Armenia (most often, these positions are unpaid internships).

If you love your native country's language and think you could contribute to the country's growth by teaching its younger generation, then this is a great job for you. The good thing about tutoring jobs in Armenia is that they are usually paid per hour, and most of them have flexible hours, so it can be a very comfortable job for foreigners who don't need a long workday.
5. Caregiver Jobs
If you love working with children or the elderly, being a caregiver might be one of your best options in Armenia. Caregiving jobs require no previous experience from applicants since most companies will train their workers before sending them to their assigned location/family. In terms of salary, if you can get hired as an assistant caregiver (someone who works under another supervisor), chances are you'll get paid less than those who work as caregivers. However, the income from being a full-fledged caregiver is good enough to live comfortably in Armenia. And most importantly, if you don't have an Armenian citizenship or work permit (and are here temporarily), this kind of job will provide you with full legal employment under Armenian labor law, which covers your rights and benefits as an employee (health insurance, free accommodation etc.)
6. Some Business Opportunities that do require some investment
There are many businesses that foreigners can start in Armenia without paying any initial capital/investment money. If you love Armenia and want to contribute more to its growth but lack the funds to start up something on your own (such as opening a restaurant), this kind of job can be for you. Some ideas to start a business in Armenia without investing much money include: opening up a small hotel/hostel near Armenia's landmarks, opening up an internet cafe, creating an event planning company etc..
7. Working as an Online ESL Teacher
Just like tutoring jobs, this is another very common job among college students who want to work by themselves, set their own schedule and choose where to work from (you can work at home or even abroad). As I mentioned before, several international companies currently provide online teaching positions with flexible hours, so if you have or know someone who has teaching experience (especially with children), this might be the best option for them. The pay is usually not the highest in Armenia, but you can make decent money if you are a good teacher and know how to manage your work-time.
