There are many ways for foreigners to make money in China. Many of which you can do part-time while still on a student visa (Z visa) and also be making money from your regular job (if you have one). These part-time jobs will enable you to save up some money, or even support yourself while living in China!

Here are some part-time jobs that you might find interesting! Most of these jobs listed below may require some qualifications, so do your research before attempting to apply for them.

1. Tour Guide (Paid per tour)

Average Salary: CNY 200/per hour or an equivalent salary in US Dollars on a monthly basis.

Requirements: Fluent Chinese Speaker, Bachelor's Degree, and over 2 years’ experience as a guide.

2. Interpreter / Translator (Paid per assignment) 

Average Salary: Depending on the job and company, your salary could range from CNY 500-1500 per day. 

Requirements: Fluent Chinese Speaker and a TEFL/TESOL certificate. You need to have a degree in translation or language. Experience is a plus!

3. Online ESL tutor (Paid per hour) 

Average Salary: USD $5 - $20 per hour depending on the country that you are teaching from. 

Requirements: Native English Speaker, Bachelor's Degree, and over 1-year experience as an online Tutor.

4. Part-Time English Teacher (Paid per hour) 

Average Salary: USD 12 - 25 per hour 

Requirements: Native English Speaker, Bachelor's Degree, and TESOL certificate. You also need to have at least 1 year of prior experience as a private tutor. Experience is preferred but not necessary!

5. Voice Acting/Narration/Transcription 

Average Salary: CNY 800 per day ($129 US Dollars). 

Requirements: Experience with audio work or scriptwriting is desired but not required for this job! You can find various "transcription" jobs if you search for them on the internet. Search engine: Baidu (百度), Aliyun (阿里云), and 36Kr (36氪).

6. Work as an Au Pair (Nanny) 

Average Salary: USD $220-480 per week depending on the city that you are in.

Requirements: Fluent Chinese Speaker, Bachelor's Degree and TESOL certificate plus 1 year of prior teaching experience is preferred but not required for this job!

7. Working at an International School (as an Assistant Teacher) 

Average Salary: USD $300-700 per month (CNY 2000-3500). 

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree plus TESOL certificate, 1 year of prior teaching experience is preferred but not required for this job!

8. Vet Assistant 

Average Salary: CNY 500 - 1000 / day ($80 US Dollars). 

Requirements: Experience working with animals is preferred! Exotic pet experience is preferred but not required for this job!

9. Work at an International Hotel 

Average Salary: CNY 200 - 500 / hour or equivalent salary in US Dollars on a monthly basis. 

Requirements: You need to have at least 1 year of prior experience working as a Front Desk Agent.

10. Work at an International Call Center 

Average Salary: CNY 500 - 2500 / month ($80 - $310 US Dollars) depending on your language, speaking level and location! 

Requirements: Fluent Chinese Speaker, Bachelor's Degree and TESOL certificate. Experience is preferred but not required for this job!

11. Human Resources Assistant 

Average Salary: CNY 5000 - 15000 / month ($800 - $2600 US Dollars)

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree plus TESOL certificate, 3 years HR experience, and 1 year of prior experience working as an Assistant.

Average Salary: CNY 1800 - 3200 / month ($290 - $490 US Dollars).

Average Salary: CNY 10000-35000 / month ($1500-$5700 US Dollars) depending on your location and position in the school.

14. Work at a University (as a Lecturer) 

Average Salary: CNY 10000-35000 / month ($1500-$5700 US Dollars).

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or higher plus TESOL certificate, 2 years of prior teaching experience plus 1 year of curriculum development is preferred but not required for this job!

15. Cleaning Staff 

Average Salary: CNY 50 - 200 / day ($8 - $35 US Dollars) depending on your location and position. 

Requirements: No specific requirements are required for this job!

16. Work at a Local Restaurant 

Average Salary: CNY 50 - 150 / hour. Plus tips! (average tip percentage is 10% in China)

Requirements: Fluent Chinese speaker, Bachelor's Degree and TESOL certificate plus 1 year of prior customer service experience is preferred but not required for this job! also need to know how to cook a little bit!
